SOPHOMORE SYMPOSIUM 2012: GOING THE EXTRA MILE

When and where: 1 p.m.-3:30PM, IDX Argosy Gym

All second year students participate in Sophomore Symposium, the kick-off activity for Year 2 of LEAD’s Lifelong Career Management Program.

We are pleased to announce that on September 30, 2012, Eddie Slowikowski will join us for the second year in a row as this year’s Sophomore Symposium keynote speaker. Eddie is a professional speaker and entrepreneur. He speaks to students about the importance of discovering what you love to do, creating a career based on this passion, and being willing to do what it takes to make all this happen. Eddie will share his story and inspire our students to think more critically about their lifelong career goals.

WHAT STUDENTS SAID THEY LEARNED FROM EDDIE’S PRESENTATION IN 2011:
·         “Always have a vision or a goal that you would like to see happen – and make that happen.”
·         “Be motivated and follow your dreams.”
·         “Be real with yourself and your life decisions.”
·         “Challenge yoursef, challenge others and try new things.”
·         “Don’t let a challenge keep you from your dream.”
·         “I don’t have to know right now where I’m going, but in order to get there I will have to know me.”

Eddie’s keynote will be followed by breakout workshops designed to allow students to start exploring how others in their field have gone about turning their passion into a career. A list of 2012 breakout workshops is coming soon.
