SUMMARY: Two warriors in pursuit of a stolen sword and a notorious fugitive are led to an impetuous, physically-skilled, teenage nobleman’s daughter, who is at a crossroads in her life. —From the Internet Movie Database

Beyond being a high-action spectacle — featuring what some critics have called the greatest fight scene on film — Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is an important film for, among other reasons, reinvigorating interest outside Asia in a traditional genre of Chinese storytelling known as wuxia. The acting is superb, and the special effects give this film an air of magic and enchantment. Director Ang Lee (The Wedding Banquet, Brokeback Mountain, The Hulk), a native of Taiwan, distinguishes himself here as an auteur of extraordinary versatility — and an important cinematic figure in his own right for constructing such a successful cultural bridge between East and West. There way more to this movie than meets the eye.
