Irish Ambassador to Visit Campus
Champlain College, together with the Vermont Council on World Affairs (VCWA), will be hosting the Irish Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Michael Collins and the Irish Consul General, Michael Lonergan for two days for a series of talks and events.
The Ambassador has been invited to highlight Champlain College’s connection with Dublin and Ireland. Since 2008 approximately 300 Champlain College students have studied at Champlain College’s Dublin campus as part of the College’s “Study Abroad” program. Champlain College has had two faculty members from the Dublin campus visit and teach here at the Burlington campus.
There are two events on Thursday October 4:
At 3:45 p.m., prior to a presentation (see directly below), Ambassador Collins will be available for a “Meet and Greet” session which will feature Irish music and dance.
The Champlain College community, as well as the general public, is encouraged to stop by the Hauke Conference Room to meet the Ambassador before attending his presentation.
At 5 p.m., the Ambassador will give a presentation titled “Ireland’s Economic Turnaround – The Story So Far”
The talk will address the economic turnaround of a small economy in the globalized world. The event will be held in Alumni Auditorium.
On Friday, October 5, there are also two events with the Ambassador in Hauke Conference Room:
