Course connections to Ciaran Buckely talk on the European Union

Contact: Professor Ciaran Buckley, 651-5803,

When and Where: 7 p.m., Alumni Auditorium, FREE

Professor Buckley’s introduction will give an Irish/European perspective on the current financial and political situation in the European Union while explaining what the European Union is and where it seems to be going.

Core connections:

Professor Buckley will be touching on issues of the Core program, namely new concepts of community in a more integrated Europe of 27 nations as well as evolving ideas of democracy and capitalism in a trading bloc. He will also talk about the role of European integration in a new globalized economy and global governance; issues that are relevant to other regions of the world.

He would like not only to reach out to the wider community but moreover specifically to students and would very much appreciate your support and possibly promoting this talk and informing students about it in your classes as well as possibly offering extra credit.
