The Stanford d.school uses it. So does Olin College and Design for America. Now IDEO, one of the world’s leading design companies, is helping to develop design thinking curriculum for K-12 education.
Join us on April 4th as former IDEO designer Jess Munro talks about how schools are embracing the process used by some of the most innovative companies in the world. We’ll see how our students in Burlington and Winooski might use this to help them prepare for careers in the 21st century.
Jess is here through the Partnership for Change initiative, working with local teachers and community leaders to explore ways to integrate design thinking into our local curriculum.
Jessica Munro runs Entrepreneurs By Design, a design thinking consulting firm. She’s most recently been forming curriculum for youth to help them learn design and entrepreneurial skills, and her years at IDEO included very strategic consulting with large organizations to help them learn design process and build cultures of innovation.
She teaches at Stanford University, with courses ranging from Human Values in Design for undergraduates, co-taught with David Kelley, to Entrepreneurial Studies for gifted high schoolers from around the globe, to Designing Breakthrough Innovations for Silicon Valley entrepreneurs.
The Partnership For Change is a Nellie Mae funded organization tasked with transforming the Burlington and Winooski School Districts by establishing a student-centered learning system that enables each learner – especially New American and historically marginalized learners – to develop the skills, knowledge, and relationships necessary to become confident, motivated, and self-sufficient learners who are successful in college and careers and are engaged in their communities.
